What locations are covered? top
We can connect financial institutions from anywhere in Europe and the rest of the world. So if you are located in Germany, Belgium, UK, Ireland, The Netherlands, Luxemburg, Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark, Italy, Spain, France, Malta, Channel Islands, Portugal etc., then you can be connected.

Is the system safe enough? top
Yes, globalXtrade uses industry standard high quality data encryption with a private key for authentication and a unique password for each trader.

Do you have a trading front end? top
Yes, you can trade using our front end, or connect using your own in-house system.

How can we connect globalXtrade to our in-house systems? top
We can provide XML or FIX interfaces, or we can perform a bespoke integration.

Can we route orders automatically to the exchange? top
Yes, you can connect your own in-house systems to globalXtrade and thereby route orders from clients directly onto virt-x.

Does globalXtrade execute trades in its own name? top
No, we are a network connectivity provider and therefore provide the technical solution to allow financial institutions to trade directly.

What is globalXtrades ownership structure? top
We are a subsiduary of Macdonald Associates Ltd. which has an 80% shareholding in glox Ltd.

Do you provide support in different languages? top
Yes, as a European company, we can provide support in a range of languages. Our primary languages are English and German, but we also have staff who can speak other European languages.

What exactly is virt-x? top
virt-x is a new pan-European cross-border exchange, created through an alliance between the Swiss Exchange and Tradepoint. It is the main pool of liquidity for the Swiss blue-chips. Shares such as UBS, Credit Suisse, Nestle, Roche, Zurich, Swisscom and ABB. It is regulated in London and is one of the main exchanges in Europe. For more details, see www.virt-x.com

Can anyone use globalXtrade? top
Anyone eligible to become a member of virt-x can trade using globalXtrade.

Are there any per-trade fees? top
globalXtrade has two charging options :
1. An annual fee for using the system with no per-trade fees.
2. A per-trade fee with a minimum monthly charge.
There are of course also those fees raised by the exchange. These can be found on the
virt-x internet http://www.virt-x.com/regulation/download/directive_9.pdf Note that there is no minimum activity charge for network connected members.

How long does the connection process take? top
Once you have been accepted as a member of the exchange, connection through globalXtrade will take about 2 weeks. The testing period can take place in parallel with the membership process.

Do I need a connection to the exchange? top
No, the connection is made via globalXtrade. We maintain the exchange connection and trading system server. This greatly reduces your system maintenace requirements.

How does settlement work? top
Since you will be a member of virt-x, you will benefit from straight through processing. You can choose your settlement organisation - either SIS, Crest or Euroclear - and can now settle cross-border trades at the equivalent of the domestic cost. You can also settle using a another clearing member. All settlement is usually done in your own name and account, so settlement costs are dramatically reduced.

Do we have a relationship with the exchange? top
Yes, as a member, you have the same rights and obligations as other members.
